This is 2 questions in 1 post. First from what I've read I gathered that with spoked rims they run a tub under the tire correct? Also if the valve stem is part of the tube then does it get changed (the tube), or do you need to specifically ask for this? Reason I ask is because on Saturday I got front and rear tires changed, and I went to ride this morning to work and it didn't roll right. After work was over I got no reading when checking tire pressure on the rear tire. I have a portable compressor that plugs into a car power outlet so I pumped the rear up to 40 psi, and withing 10 minutes or less the rear was down to 25 psi. I could hear an audible leak, and the only change in the noise is when I pressed my fingers around the nut holding the valve stem to the rim. I would have to roll the bike forward to see, but it looks like the valve stem cab would come really close to hitting the caliper. So could the tech either have tightened the nut to much tearing the tube, or make it nick the caliper again making a small tear? Weird thing is I didn't notice any drive-ability change on the ride home so maybe it happened in that mile or so ride from the shop.
Did they put new tubes on with the new tires? It is standard practice to get a new tube with a tire when running spiked wheels. It could vahe been over tightened, be the old tube, or maybe they pinched the tube when isntalling the tire and got a hole in it. Call the shop that installed it and talk to them to find out what they did.
Yeah plan on calling them tomorrow just wasn't sure if it was standard practice to change the tube or no. Now I just have to find a way to get it to them. I don't have a truck, and they are a small dealer/shop so don't know if they have a truck. Not going to ride it I loose 20 psi in 10 minutes when it's at least a 15 minute ride without traffic
My dealer sold me a tube, both times when I replaced the front tire. I agree that the rim strip needs to be replaced each time, but I would think that a tube would last more than 10,000 miles. When cars had tubes in them, I would never have thought to replace a tube after anything less than two sets of tires. Most of the time we just crammed the tube into the new tire without any thought. If it's not leaking, it's fine! Maybe bikes are different. I know a flat on the front is no fun...
Aren't there any gas stations between you and the indy?? Take you car and make the trip, find a place to get air at the halfway point. Or something like that..

Gas stations are on the corner down the street from the dealer I'd already be flat or almost flat before I got that far. I would have to include the time it would take (not much but still ad's up) to put the air compressor in the car close the door then get on the bike and start riding. Dealer is just so small they have no truck, and what looks like maybe just 1 tech. The "show room" has mostly dirt bikes, a couple crotch rockets, and about 4 Harleys. Might check uhaul tomorrow to see if they have any trailers I could use to haul the bike, and get a guy from work with a truck to hook me up as everyone I talked to with has a big truck that would be a PITA to try to get into since no ditches close by the level it out some.
