Deuce vs. Wide Glide/Street Bob
#11
Also, an above poster said that the deuce was 'pro-street' and that it would be weird to mod/chop it out. No idea what that means.
The deuce almost seems like the softail version of a wide glide/street bob combo.

I went for a street bob. Seemed to me that you could get a really personalized BA look for a lot less $$ than a with a softtail... The style of the street bob begs to be blacked out instead of chromed out like most Softtails (save for night trains). Just my 2 cents. I plan on throwing some progressive suspension this winter and then planning out some motor mods. I probably saved an arm and a leg by not getting chrome fever... On the other hand, that money will probably just find its way into the motor mods.. Really, it just depends on what your taste in bikes is.

Deuce is my game
Deuce is closest to a 60s chopper. If you extend the forks and rake the neck a little, bingo. The tank is gorgeous and only available on a Deuce. The forks are custom. The motor, thanks to having anti-vibration balancers on the crank, is bolted right into the frame as a stressed member for superb non-flex handling. It is one of the quickest mild stock Harleys ever (no?) except for the XR1200 Sporty which is basically a Buell in disguise.
I would be surprised to find one at $10k that was pristine, though. That's ok though. One of my first Harleys cost me $500 and a used Sony stereo. And took three years of overhauling it on a non-existent budget before it looked and performed as new. It was back when most bikes came with kickstarters for gosh sakes! Believe me, the Deuce is real progress!
