'13 Slim, analog speedo going bad?
'13 Slim - with the H-D Combination Analog Speedometer/Tachometer - p/n 74774-11.
A couple of weeks ago, while returning home, I stopped to top the tank off which I always start doing this time of year (never know when your last ride will be your last ride...), and I noticed that the analog fuel gauge only went up to 7/8.
So I checked when I got home to see if maybe I really hadn't topped it off and it was good.
Next day I checked it and still stuck on 7/8.
Called and made an appointment with the dealer since it's still under ext. warranty.
While on the way to drop it off I noticed (about a mile from home) that it was back up to FULL.
So I went back home, called and canceled the appointment.
Now this week I noticed twice, that I'm see "VINERR" on the display while starting the bike.
Nothing else. It fires and runs fine and the message does NOT reappear as long as the bike is warm.
There are NO codes either...
Today after a ride it's doing it again - fuel only shows 7/8, so I yanked the dash and seat and checked all connections for the speedo and ECM, BCM - everything is clean and dry.
Battery terminals and connections were all just cleaned about a month ago.
Anything else I should be checking?
