Great! rode the new ride for about 70 miles today. When I came back, I noticed oil splatters on the exhaust heat shield, on the oil tank just under the dipstick, and under the lower quick-release oil line. It's not a lot of oil, and it doesn't seem to be leaking or dripping from anywhere. It looks like a few oddly-placed oil splatters.
took it to the same dealer where I bought it on weds. It's spending the night there for a checkup.
I'm pretty pissed, frustrated, and wanting a cigarette since I just quit on sunday! Haha. Thanks for reading.
All harleys do that when they are overfilled with oil. It came out through the air filter. At least I would be very sorpised if it was something else from what u described as to where the oil splatters are
Ok well they basically said it was a little blowback from a tiny ammt of oil seepage from that quick connect oil line and a not-tight oil fill cap seal.
They said keep an eye on it, if it happens again to bring it back.

All you can do its watch it. Congrats on the bike. I worked a great deal on my Blackline the same way. The 96B wss well worth the discount I got vs full retail on the 103.
Long story short... my first bike/Harley was an 06 Dyna I got back in April. Wanted a Softail/Fatboy at the time but couldn't afford it. Settled with Dyna when really I shoulda held out for what I wanted....
ANYWAYS, rode this home tonight. Out from under the Dyna, and I'm on this brand new 2011 Fatboy Lo for not a whole lot more per month (thanks to the 2k12 models I guess).
Bad lighting in garage, yeah yeah. Better pics on the weekend. Nothing new here though, just another Fatty Lo.
Oh... question for those of you who have bought new Harleys.... how the HELL am I supposed to not lay into the throttle for 500 miles!?!?
I can relate to how you feel. In 1979 I settled for a corvette when what I really wanted was a Lesabre. Enjoy the new bike
yeah well, maybe he's got a point. sold my full bolt-on (except cams) 6spd LS1 z28 recently for a lincoln towncar. lincoln is automatic and ridiculously comfortable for my 100 mile round trip commute to work each day.
