Anyone have a passenger pillion scratch the fender?
I just got a new passenger pillion for my Lo. # 51898-05A
Has anyone had any problems with scratching?
I noticed today on the Dyna forum someone had a problem with the staples scratching the fender.
Do yourself a favor, Presume that it will and protect your fender under the seat. I use clear adhesive thick vinyl. A trick is to first stick it on a microfiber rag a few times so it it will remove EZ. Good luck.
I read somewhere that one guy puts electrical tape before installing the pillion and it helps prevent scratches. I've been trying it lately and it seems to work. only problem I've run into is if I leave it on too long it will leave a sticky residue... but that's much better than scratches
i have the fatboy lo i was thinking of getting that to. i changed my mind i will keep the stock one. my girl has a small butt lol
LOL, mine has a small butt too, but I hear the stock seat is pretty hard. The grumbles start coming about 45 minutes in.
Looking at the seat, the staples aren't exposed like the guys over on the Dyna forum. This one might be ok.
The mustang pillion I have has rubber bumpers under it that contact the fender and while they don't scratch exactly, you can see where they contact the paint because it leaves dull spots in the clearcoat. So I guess in a way even the rubber bumpers are scratching, just really fine scratches (probably from rear brake dust). I plan on rubbing the dull spots out with some compound and then laying down some clear 3M protector film in that area to keep it from happening in the future.
All the time. I got tired of buffin' out the rear fender, no matter what you put in between. No rear seat or passenger pillow if you're thinking of riding "solo" most of the time.
