Is there anywhere online to get prices of actual HD replacement parts or do I have to go to the dealer directly. I know I have to buy them from the dealer but I would like to start adding up what it's going to cost to rebuild my Lo after the run in with a deer.
On a related note, if you had to replace the entire front-end on a Lo would you go back stock or are there any aftermarket forks that would be better and still look good on a Lo that would cost close to the same as the stock parts?
I still have to see how well state farm is going to work with me. I plan on doing all the work myself. They still haven't called to make an appt. to come see the bike.
E Bay. Here's how I shop. I have the HD parts manuals for both of my bikes. I find the part number I need, then do a search on E Bay for that number, and voila!!! There they are. Check the little box that says "include description" below the search button, and you can find anything your looking for.
if i had to rebuild the front end on my Lo, I would start with a 3* or 4* rake from Covingtons Cycles and go from there..it's just a new set of triple trees and they're like $750 for the black trees, or $600 for the unfinished.. maybe a shorter fender to show off that 140mm front tire.. but as for the forks themselves.. somewhere out there (and off the top of my head i can't remember who makes them).. there's either a 45mm or 50mm front fork setup that just makes the front end look beefy as hell. it's a good look, but too much money for me..otherwise i'd keep the stock ones, it's the only thing that fits the look of the bike
I agree with the earlier post regarding eBay. I've bought a lot of authentic H-D stuff there for much less than at the dealer and sometimes shipping is free. Many H-D dealers also have eBay stores but you'll find a lot of new and used H-D stuff offered by others too. It's worth a look. Check and confirm part numbers with the sellers before you buy!!!!
