weird high beam indicator and headlight

I turn on ignition switch and even though the light switch is in low beam position the blue high beam indicator light is on and the headlight is NOT on at all..Then after I start it the blue indicator turned off and headlight was on..THEN I tried it again and back to blue indicator with no headlight...Tried it again and all is normal...
Anyone have anything similar happen? Any ideas??

Could be a lamp test mode. Like in your car. Shows all indicator lamps are working.

I just went for a ride and damn if the headlight didn't go out on me. Rode home with my spots only.. Now its back to the blue high beam indicator on and no headlight..
Hmmm...

I replaced bulb this morning and so far so good. I've had headlight bulbs burn out a few times but never had the blue hi beam indicator act this way.. oh well as long as it's fixed.. hope it stays fixed..

It was the low beam filament, it was broken and laying on the high beam filament in the bulb. Causing a back feed, illuminating the high beam indicator bulb, until vibration shook it loose or it burnt off. Did you still had high beams? If so, that was it.

I had no lights at all.. Changed bulb and all is well again. What you say makes sense since it wasn't a wiring issue. I hate electrical gremlins!

Either that or it's kinda like a "idiot light". I have old VW's and when the GEN goes bad it activates the light. It's wired how it works!

High beam light on for no reason

I had high beam lamp, blinking lightly for a few weeks, then permanently although high beam light was off. It was simply telling me my headlight bulb was dying (H4) on 2005 Touring.

My son's Yamaha doesn't have the headlight come until he actually starts the bike. I wish my Heritage did the same...
