Default Hard to find neutral on 2012 Heritage

I have a 2012 Heritage Softail and love everything about it except it's really hard to find neutral. As I get more miles on her I'm wondering if it will get better. Ask my dealer about it and he said he didn't think there was alot that could be done about it (???). Has anyone else experienced this and if so did you find a fix?

Thanks,

Jack

I have an 11 and had similar experience. In my case it got easier to find. I also think it took me some time to better sense it's location. I found using the heel down method has been much easier than toe up.

Will get better with time ... although sometimes mine still acts up.

Put in first and than a light tap on the heel shifter usually does the trick.

I agree it's easier with miles. Sometimes I rock my bike a little and it goes right into neutral. I use the heel shifter cause it's easier to find neutral.

Yeah when I got my '12, it was hard, and I read on here to use a light tap with the heel to get it into neutral. That works reasonably once you get a feel for it. But now that I'm coming up on 1k, its getting really easy to get into neutral just by toeing up lightly. So yeah it gets much easier as you get some miles on it.

I would switch out your transmission fluid to Amsoil severe gear 75-110. When I switched over last year I noticed a huge improvement, trans switches through gears like butter and finding Neutral is alot better. You would be surprised what a difference a better a lubricant can do! Ask anybody who runs Amsoil in there trans, they'll tell you the same thing!

It will get better in time. People are right as if and when you change the trans fluid you will notice a big change. I use Mobil 1 75-140 syn gear oil and it shifts much better. It does need to wear in though

Spectro Platinum Gear Oil and a clutch adjustment solved the problem for me.
Good Luck!

Changed mine at 200 miles
