Default Dipstick Burns

My petite-sized g/f runs a HD Signature seat on her 07 Fatboy. She loves the way it pushes her forward, sits down lower, and is narrower at front giving her a solid flat-foot stance. But that narrow shape also exposes the oil dipstick that's covered by the stock seat on my 09 Fatboy. Couldn't understand why she was complaining about getting burned until we swapped rides briefly today.

The Kuryakin lexan heat shields don't appear to cover the dipstick area. Crotch coolers from Capt Itch would but not sure she likes that style. Any other options out there?

My first thought was a sort of can coozie to slip over the dipstick. Those used for bee....I mean soda cans are designed to keep cool in, not heat out and would likely melt. But there should be some material that could withstand the heat and create a barrier. Anyone ever seen anything like that?

Captian Itch makes some nice leather deflectors. If you want to stick with watcha got then take the dipstick and buy some Plasti-dip and rubber coat the top.

Thanks but from what I saw they cut a hole through the top of theirs for the dipstick to fit through. Defeats our whole purpose.

JUST call the Capt and I am sure He'll make one that'll make HER happy....

OR do what I do,, get some leather and make Ur own.. It ain't rocket science cutting leather.

Actually let her make her own,, that way she can't blame anyone else if its FU'ed..

I've no doubt the Capt and his wife make outstanding products of the highest quality. And I've done a bit of leatherwork myself, including making a solo bag for my Dyna. But if the look of leather just doesn't fit with the style/theme of the bike, no amount of bling or customization is going to work.

You could probably have a local shop make you a slip on cover out of neoprene (wet suit material )that could be made in a color to match and I think the neoprene can with stand the heat of the dip stick.

My wife had the same problem when we put her Corbin gunfighter on her 2011 fatboy

We had a local leather shop make her a heart

Yes I said a heart on a short leather straps that snap together under the seat and wrap around the rail

I have two pictures but I can't load them off my phone so I am not sure if you are willing to wait until to tomorrow for pictures

Unless someone is going to help me with posting off my phone

The patch is actually 6 layers or 8 layers of leather all stitched together and is great for heat dissipation

Yes it is a purple heart patch

And here is the same pic with the patch in place covering the dipstick
