Default Crossbones or Heritage Classic

I’m debating between an 09’ Crossbones and a 14’ Heritage Softail Classic. I’ve already done some research but would like some updated options as to what one I should get and why. I understand it comes down to what exactly I want but I’m looking for others options as I might have overlooked something, or just why other prefer one over the other. Both have low miles (within a few hundred miles of each other). Both are stock besides exhaust, they both have V&H. And last at the end of the day they’ll both cost me the same.

Cost the same? You're kidding, right?

The Heritage is $750 more but by the time I add a windshield and install kit to the Crossbones and travel to pick it up, it’ll be pretty much the same cost as the Heritage.

The Springer does hold value. This is a tough one though. The Heritage is so close to a Deluxe which is IMO the best looking Harley makes. I have a detachable sissybar on my CB and the bags attached to them hold a surprisingly large amount of what ever I need.

with bags

Depends on which type of riding you do. Relatively short day trips, do the bones. Throw in some overnighters where you'd need more luggage, go with the heritage.I personally will never lose my springer but, I never put more than 2 or 3 hundred miles on the bike in one shot.

My 13 Heritage has been very comfortable both long distance and short afternoon hops.

i get a lot of compliments

I like that you sit in the bike rather than on the bike. Makes for easy slow speed maneuvering

Im 6’2 and I do not feel cramped

Can't speak for the crossbones but I love my heritage. It maneuvers well for in town runs to the store or on a long ride. I rode my 2010 heritage to the black hills last year and went 8-10 hours on it without a problem. Totaled about 1800 miles for the weeks worth of riding and loved every minute of it.

I'm biased a bit. But if you do the Crossbones with bags, passenger seat and a sissy bar you'll be able to load it up pretty well. So that's an option if you're going to want something for day trips with the option of loading it up for longer trips. I mean, not knocking on the Heritage or anything, but anyone can go out and get one of them, don't see the Crossbones around too much. For me, as soon as I saw it i had to have it. But definitely test out the seat, if it's got the stock solo spring seat it's a bit different then how the seats on other models feel, not everyones a fan of it.
