Yea, I'm an idiot, need help picking lock
So I picked up a tour pack rack last year. One side has the locking quick release cam with of course no key. So today I accidentally pushed the button in and----it locked. Looks like you can get a key from the dealer, but is there anyway to pick this lock?

since it is not the same key as the ignition, you said you picked it up after, then I would certainly try the bic method or if in the rare chance that does not work then I would buy two new locks from wherever and use the DeWalt key. Start small and just wait until the lock opens. Be careful

Yea, it's a little tiny barrel lock. These are the locks you put on your quick release sissy bar or in my case, the tour pack rack. Looks like there are four tumblers. The key must push these down to a certain depth and then when you turn the key, the pin pops up, allowing you to release the cam. Been picking at it with my jeweler screwdrivers with no luck. And crap, a rare nice day here in Seattle and I spent all day screwing around with this.

Yea I unscrewed it and took the rack off, that's a whole nother disaster story and I've got the new scratch on my fender to prove it.
Locksmith was no help, granted I didn't want to spend more than what it cost just to replace the lock.
The stealer was no help at all. Went to service to see if they had a master key- they too were absolutely no help.
So I bought a brass tube to make my own key - what a waste of time.
Finally did what I should have done in the first place.
Took the Dremel tool out and cut it apart. Problem solved.
Might just be cheaper to break the locking cam off? Just looked at mine - mabey unscrew it from the bike and take off with the tourpak?
Duh. That's what I should have done. The little piece of docking hardware would stay with the rack, but I'm sure it's cheaper to replace than the cam-lock I'm going to have to buy.
Yup, story of my life, act first, think later.
