You're going to get a lot of different opinions. Here's mine. I use nothing but Adam's products on my paintwork. It's great stuff, all made in America, and Adam is a good guy.

I don't polish chrome though. Over time you'll wear through the chrome. For that I just use a micro fiber cloth and windex. Only polish to fix a scratch.[/quote]
+1. I'm not crazy about frequent chrome polishing, just a couple of times a year, & keep it clean in between.

Mother's and Meguiars are good and easy to find, but like anything else there are premium products available if you're not satisfied with off-the-shelf stuff.

This is gonna sound like a commercial, but I'm just a satisfied customer.
Adam's is all I use on my vehicles as well. Their products work great, are easy to use, smell great, and are backed by a 110% money back guarantee. And their customer service blows away any company I've dealt with in any field. Plus they have a great user forum.
And like someone else said, the applicator is just as important as the product. Don't use cheap microfiber towels or whatever rags you have around the house. They will introduce swirls/scratches in your finish.
My son is a detailer of very high end cars and trucks. He gave me a can of wax that I had never heard of for Christmas and I have used it ever since. The name of the wax is Wolfgang Füzion Carnauba-Polymer Estate Wax. After using it I really like the results of it. Easy on easy off. Gives a really deep shine and best of all it really protects the paint. Living on the Gulf coast we are bothered with pestly love bugs. Using this wax they don't seem to stick to the wax surfaces when you hit them. After riding I just wipe sled down with damp cloth followed with a dry cloth. Only draw back is my son said that the wax cost about $175 per can.
Car soap, Turtle chrome polish, Protect All for touch up detailing and Meguiars Ultimate wax. Ultimate wax is great it on my black car and bike. Less is best when applying. Holds up nice and the best thing about it is no residue left on black rubber or plastic.
