Samson, Short Shots, 2 into 1? Lost. Exhaust dyno 3s?
I prefer loud pipes. Like to be possibly heard when not seen. Have a new Softail Fatboy 103. Want no other mods besides pipes and K&N. Want the FTW sound.
Does anyone have dyno numbers on pipes? Is there a 2 into 1 system that is actually loud? The V&H 2 into 1 sounded weak.
Considering
-Samson Rip Saws
-Samson Hell Raisers
- V&H Short Shots
some type of 2 into 1
With no other mods will the pipes really make a noticeable difference? Wouldn't mind losing bottom end with short shots if I gain top end...
Are any pipes with baffles louder than V&H Short Shots?
Would baffless pipes lose more power than Short Shots with baffles? Would love to see Dyno results...

in the last edition of American Iron magaizine, they did a dyno run on a bike that they changed the air filter and then the exhaust. Mind you that this was a stock fat bob (if i remember right) with the 103. they did a dyno run before and after each mod. they did the air filter first. it went from like 64 hp to 73 hp with that mod change. then they changed the exhaust. it went from 73hp to 74hp. not much change. torque numbers changed about the same as well.
cant help you on the sound of the items you are talking about. but on my '12 fatboy lo, i just went with the V&H slip-ons. made a world of difference in the sound over stock. i couldn't tell much in the seat for the change, but i could tell a little difference overall because of the change of what gear i could run in when riding 2 up at certain speeds/rpms.
i will be putting a se ac on soon. just waiting to maybe save enough to do a tuner at the same time.

i don't think you are talking about loosing much power here, but the shorter the pipes the more power lost from what i'm hearing while reading the forums from some of the guys that know what they are talking about. that being said, i don't really know, this is just what i've kinda picked up while reading

My samson true dual baffled 33"s are loud as hell when I'm on the throttle, but not super loud at idle. My brother said it is deafening at freeway speeds when he is next to me, and everyone has told me when accelerating it is just rediculously loud. Which is what I want.
My brother is running the thunder header on his ultra and that thing is way way way loud all the time, with a good sound to it.

If you want loud and like short pipes, look at Bassani Pro-Streets. I have them and they are loud. Sometimes I wonder if my bike is just louder than others, though, as I had V&H Big Radius 2-1 and those pipes were pretty loud, and I have heard video clips where they are not. Bassani's are stepped. I have some Dyno sheets showing 2-1 and 2-2 exhausts. 2-1 put out little more torque and they hit a little sooner in rpm range. 2-2 put out more hp and hit a little later.
