So one of the mods Im doing this winter is installing an oil cooler. Im still trying to decide on which one, whether it be fan assist or no fan. I was wondering if some of you guys and gals that have them could post some pics. I am considering either the HD, Ultracool, or Jagg. Yes, Ive used the search button. Any other info that I need to know please tell me. Im doing my research and just trying to make the right decision. Thanks
Nice scoot you have. On my '04 Fatty I put a Milwaukee Twins cooler that fits on
the front down tubes using the Jagg oil filter adapter. It was mostly for looks as
dry sump softails don't run as hot as most others. I took it off after bottoming out
the front in a pothole and it dinged my fender. Check out my profile and you can
see a pix with it on. Collecting dust in a corner if you're interested. Btw - without
the lower cooler standoff mounts it won't hit the fender; just tie/clamp against
the down tubes.
Also far from stock motor here and I went with the newer HD oil cooler. The reason why? 1) it has the bypass in it that does not open up until it hits 135 degree's I think it is. 2) it has the offset turbulator's in it so the oil break's up and flows better. 3) I try to stay with Harley for personal reason's. 4) I see no use or sense in an oil cooler with a fan on it. It's just something not needed and something else to go wrong. I have paid very close attention to my bike this past summer and it ran 20 to 30 degree's cooler than any of the guys I was riding with. I am even around 200 when sitting and idling. You are about to be told by many how a oil cooler is not needed and a waste of money. A cooler engine is by far a happier engine and it can do nothing but add life to it. It also DOES help when sitting because it increases oil capacity and added cooling surface. There's my .002 on the subject, pictures in my albums.
I might also add that yes, I have the oil scavenger too. I do a complete 100% clean oil change each and every time I change my oil. I was really surprised at how much old dirty oil stays in my bike when doing an oil change. That too can be NOTHING but a good thing too. Now everyone gang up on me but hey, it's my bike, my thing, a tad fanatical about my bike and clean fluids.

I'm going to try the Oil Bud on my 08 Ultra. I have the Jagg 10 row on my 08 FXSTC and like it a lot. The little 6 row on my XL seems to do fine for it as well. I love my oil coolers!!
I installed the HD oil cooler a couple years ago. Have been stuck behind accidents a couple times and sitting for extended periods. Seems to work well. Here is a pic, don't make fun of the dirty bike :-)

I started out with that one on my FX then bought the Jagg 10 row. No comparison between the two. I can honestly say I've seen a good 20 degree difference between the two.
You can get the adapter with a thermostat or you can probably get a cover for the cooler for cold weather riding. My XL doesn't have a stat but I put a cover over the cooler in the winter. That way my oil don't run on the cool side, which isn't a good thing either. You can cool your oil too much in the winter.
