Default Frustrated with wheels. Please help!

When i bought my 2000 night train the previous owner put a rear deuce wheel and fatboy rear fender on it. I want to ditch the deuce wheel so i bought a rear spoke wheel off what i was told was a 05 fxst. It measures roughly 4" outside to outside to outside. So im not sure if thats right? I know should measure to th e bead seat. But itd still make it about 3.5? Anyway im basically trying to get back to a 16 inch rear wheel and get a 140 metzeler or so on it. But with this deuce wheel conversion done im not sure now what ill need to replace or how to check, spacers, belt, calipers etc. any insight would be much appreciate. Ive read a million post about doing the deuce conversion but eveyone seems to have different thoughts. Thanks in advance!

Hey Low, welcome from Buffalo, NY. If the prior owner put a wider(?) wheel on, then yes, spacers are probably involved but nothing you shouldn't be able to handle. Head on over to the Night Train pic thread and say hi, you'll get all the help you need, great group of guys.

Stock rear is 3" and an after market 3.5" should fit without issue assuming it has teh proper hub and bearings for your bike. The only way to see what is going on for sure is to muck it up and see how it goes together.

If it's off an 05 it will bolt up.I don't know about the caliper without checking a parts cross reference. Search on the forums here for one,it's pretty common. I will measure my stock spacers for you on my 05 when I get home tonight.I never switched one back either. You can get a 150 on there with no changes at all and a 160 with some bolt changes under the fender.I've been running a 160-16 on my Train for years.

There is a thread on here where a guy put a spoked Dyna wheel, 17X4.5 I believe on a softail, bolted right up, just had to change the bearings to the correct I.D. for his year (3/4 inch). Take a look for it. Look at this thread...

Dyna rear wheel on a Softail. Got questions?? Weelo88 figured it out.

Thanks everyone for the answers. I guess I'll have to just pull everything off and mock up the wheel as suggested. I was hoping to order tires first. But I didn't want to order the tires only to find out the wheel doesn't fit. Lol. Thanks again.

I just took my stock 05 Night Train wheel off for a 200mm conversion. If you're interested in buying the Wheel/Tire/Pulley combo or need measurements or pictures...let me know. Complete rear fender with struts and light are also available.

It's all apart and easy to check right now if you just need help with what you have.
