Default Should I buy '96 Fatboy?

Looking at a '98 Fatboy with 13,000 miles on it for $6,000. It has a Magnacharger Supercharger (whatever that is), and original Streetfighter option (whatever that is). I have a Dyna now and would appreciate it if any of you could advise me if there is anything about that year I should be aware of and also the significance of the 2 modifications listed.

Thanks

Supercharger is a supercharger.. adds power to the engine. How much i'd trust it, i dont know..

And i believe you're thinking of the Street Stalker option which is a package from HD in the late 90's. Comes with custom fenders, custom headlight housing, and a bunch of other custom stuff on it.. i think it's pretty wild looking, although very 90's

So the Street Stalker kit is pretty cool (HD still sells the front fender for today's fatboys), but I wouldn't trust that supercharger too much. But for $6k, that's a decent price.

You just have to wonder how hard the bike was ridden with that supercharger on it. It is hit and miss with kind of modification. Most engines that have an after market supercharger have a shortened life span.

If it's from Magnacharger it is a Supercharger.

How many miles does it have, who changed the oil regularly, how are the tires, have you test ridden it, have you taken it to an indy to get a mechanical opinion...lots of questions

13,000 miles isn't much. My 2010, fatboy has better than 30,000 on it in under 3 years, and still runs like the day I bought it only better... so that engine itself should be fine.

Probably been sitting a while. Check the tires for dry rot, take to a mechanic for a onceover. If he cant find mechanical issues, congratulations on the "nearly new, 15 yr old bike".. LOL
