Default 2000 fatboy petcock problems

So I fired u the fatboy the other week and she started right up but my petcock started to leak so i shut her down and started to work on it. It was the trusty diaphragm so I said no more i ordered a pingel and it came in so i installed it. put some fuel in. check the flow of the petcock. there was plenty of fuel coming out so i attached the gas line. capped the vaccum line and put in the battery. I tried starting it and it didnt even sound like it was sparking. what should be my next step since I am confused. should i check spark? check the carb? any ideas would help. I really do not want to trailer my bike into a mechanic for something simple. thank you for any and all replys.

First off, since your engine ran before the installation of the new petcock and you didn't make any other modifications, it's safe to assume that it's the petcock causing your problem. You stated that you "Capped the vacuum line". I assume that you mean the vacuum line port but which port? At the Carb side or the Petcock side.

Pingel produces two styles of petcocks, with and without a vacuum port. I've installed petcocks without vacuum ports and capped the vacuum port at the carburetor and the system function properly. It's my understanding that if a petcock is designed with a vacuum port, it must be connected.
