Sold my 2012 FLHX today thinking about a FLSTF
Well sold my 2012 Streetglide today.
Thinking about a Fatboy.
I know some people may think this is a downgrade, but the SG didn't fit 90% of my riding style.
So guys give me the pro and cons of SG as compared to FB ownership.
BTW I heard today that ABS will be standard on softails in 2014.

Just more bike than I needed, too heavy and bulky for around town riding. I think the only thing I will miss with the Fatboy would be cruise control.

You will be always be giving up something no matter what motorcycle you decide on. I have owned every model of Harley (with exception to the vrod I only test rode) that Harley currently makes and their are all different and made for a specified purpose. The tourers pros are that they have dual disc Brembo brakes, cruise control, big hard locking bags, higher revving engines (Rubber mounted A engine), stero system, and better lean angle.
Cons they are very top heavy/tippy, vibrates a lot at idle, cumbersome, and heavy steering if fairing is mounted to forks. Softails are a completely different from any other bike Harley makes. Softails pros frame are completely different from any other Harley frame because it is made to look like a 1940's knucklehead. The frame slops to give you that in the bike riding experience. Softails stock are considered some of the most stunning bikes on the planet. Softails are the only air cooled Harley with the smooth B engines. Softail are the only Harley's with hidden shocks so you can take everything off including the saddle bags and won't have any exposed shocks. Softail carry there weight down low to give you great balance and less tippyness. This makes the softail so easy and fun to ride. It also makes slow speed maneuvering a breeze.
Cons the softails only have a single disc front brake, no cruise control, limited lean angle, smaller gas tank (5 vs 6), not as comfortable two up. I guess people like to use the word down grade when referring to softails to feel better about their purchase but all I have to do is throw a leg over my softail and I KNOW I got the right bike for me. Tourers and Softails are great bikes and neither is an upgrade or a downgrade just a choice.
