Default advice getting fuel line back on

So, I removed the quick disconnect to connect a fuel pressure gauge.. went to put the one back that connects to the tank and it will not engage.. I push up on the outer portion and push the line end in but it will not go clunk... Ive done this before just the other day.. I used a mirror and looked up into the quick disconnect and the o ring looks fine.. I've pushed so hard I may have dented the bottom of my tank.. it simply will not engage.. to restate: I am pushing the ring up first... then inserting.. it goes in almost all the way.. looks like 1MM left to go and it would hit the chrome ring! any ideas for me?

Thanks.. no, I ran the bike till it died... I ended up having to use a damn 2x2 piece of wood 3 feet long to pry it... Im going to go out on a limb and say this has to do with ethanol. What a pain.. good news is, I think my fuel pressure regulator is bad... fuel pressure at idle from time to time swings madly from like 40 psi to 60psi.. gotta research this... Im hopeful I found the issue.

I had this same issue a few months ago and got so pissed I had to call it quits for the night. The next day my father in law was over and happen to be at that side of the bike and he just popped it on. Try getting anither set of hands on it. Sometimes that does wonders.
