Default Splicing 3 wires together

I bought a side mount license plate a while ago. I used the tap that came with the part to connect the license plate's light lead wire to the run wire of my brake light. The lights on the license plate have been acting up and I think I have a connection problem.

I wasn't too happy with the tap that came with the part but it worked so I rolled with it for a while, but I think I need to redo the connection. I am thinking about cutting the brake light's run wire, and splicing the 3 wires together. What's the best way to go about this? I've been doing a fair amount of reading and it sounds like there are a number of methods. Solder, cap, crimp style cap, or a hand twisted splice covered with silica. What have you all done for projects like this? Thanks

I have soldered and heat shrinked wires plus just twisted them and heat shrinked depending on the application and the wire exposure. If you have never soldered wires is does take a little practice plus the area you solder wont bend much after your done.

Damn. Thanks man. That posi tap would have saved me a ton of trouble. Have you used any of their products. Cool that they use it to keep the site up and running too.

Thanks Raddazz. I've never soldered before so I think I might go another route on this project.

Solder and heat shrink are the best option for a connection that will be exposed to the elements over time the posi tap will prob rust up.

Practice soldering. It will come in handy in the future too. I solder all my connections on my bike to make sure they will hold up over time.

I used these on my LED license plate bracket and they are brilliant. Best thing for splicing thin wires.

They're perfect for motorcycle use because they don't rust, they're not bothered by vibration or heat, they're dustproof (and some are waterproof) and they can be used over and over

^^ from the site

Amen, these came with my Custom Dynamics LED turn signals, for use with the Can-Bus adapter - they've been on for about 6 months without issues.
They go on easy, they seal and they stay tight.
What more could you want?
I'd definitely use them again as opposed to cutting and soldering...
