Default FatBob Headlight on Breakout with Dual LED

Here are the new images.....

Ok, so this is my new project. I figured I would throw up some info and part numbers for anyone else who wants to do this.

First, I have to give credit for the idea to boosting1bar, he has already done this on his FatBob, and was going to make more mounts for others, but he is having trouble finding a cost effective source.
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...p-on-fxdf.html

I took a slightly different approach.

Here is the list of parts, and quantities needed.

(1) 69798-08 HEADLAMP SHELL ASSEMBLY
(1) 69801-08 TRIM RING (chrome) or 61400181 TRIM RING (black)
(1) 68000008A DAYMAKER AUXILIARY 4" LAMPS, BLACK
(1) 69839-08 BLOCK mount
(1) 4762 SCREW 3/8-16 X 4-1/2 hex hd. (Grade 5)
(2) 6701 WASHER 3/8 X 13/16 X 1/16
(1) 7775 LOCKNUT 3/8-24 X 7/16 X 9/16
(2) 3159 SCREW #8-32 X 1/2 flat hd
(1) 73154-96BK HOUSING 4-place socket
(2) 73191-96 TERMINAL socket, #16-20 AWG
(1) 72298-95 CABLE sealed (green)
(4) 72356-95 TERMINAL #18-20AWG (HDI)
(2) 72161-06 HOUSING 2-WAY socket Female Black
(2) (NOT HD PARTS) Metal ring .125" x 4.16" ID, 4.70" OD

I'm pretty sure that is everything. I bought the headlamp shell, trim ring and wiring harness off ebay for cheap cause it was slightly damaged. The only other thing I used that is not a Harley part is 2 aluminum mounting rings I had made. You can see them in the first image. They are .125" with an inner diameter of 4.16" and an outer diameter of 4.70". I had to clearance these for tabs inside the headlight housing, as well as tabs on the lights. An angle grinder and a few minutes took care of that.

im really looking forward to seeing this installed. ive been looking at doing the same, and have almost pulled the trigger on aftermarket setups a few times, but kept coming back to these duals.

I hope it looks as good as it does in my head. I will miss the visor on my headlight though.

Yes, but I don't use the high beam with the LED I have now either. Plus now the high beam switch will turn off the headlight.
I thought about doing one for low beam and both for high beam, but I'd rather just have both all the time.

I've always loved the Fat Bob Dual headlights. This should be interesting. Thanks 24V for shedding more LIGHT on the subject.

yeah, thats going to be a problem for me. we have to have a high beam in texas. i guess i could do one for low, both for high... but like you, id rather have them both on all the time. i guess i could rewire every time i take it for an inspection, but that could prove to be a pain in the *** (even if i hide some quick disconnects)

hmmm.... wonder if theres someone else making an led for those.... ON THE HUNT!

Just wire one for low and both for high and run it on high all the time?

BTW, there are other LED's that should fit. You can get High/Low ones as well. Be warned though, they are not cheap.
