Yes, and you plug the new harness into oem 3 pin plug. The new switch is for starting. If u dont have a switch or time delay relay its hard on the bulb and fuses. Youll be replacing both often. I just ran the power the existing switch on tins that was used for the accessory lights which I removed a long time ago.
Don't need a lot of room, just enough for the slim ballast. Don't wanna take the chance of trying to squeeze it in the headlight and it get too hot and melt wires or shut off from heat.
I can run the wires from the boot, through the opening in the back of the head light.

When I was doing a test fit, with my tank lift, the ballast fit under my tank no problem. 2" Tank lift.

I had mine there under the tank at first but I didn't want to take the chance of the wind bouncing it all around. The ballast fit in the bucket with no problem at all. Plenty of room.
I installed the ballast and spliced a 10 sec. delay relay into the HID harness. I was able to fit it all in the bullet headlight bucket. No problems all last summer with heating up or shutting off. The relay is wired on the low beam side of the wiring harness. I purchased the relay off eBay for about $15.00. Looks like an automotive relay just a bit taller

Ya, but in a Night Train, I have a 5 3/4 bucket, so no luck with that route......

This is very true. I ended up getting a headwinds bucket for about. $150 if I remember and it uses the stock bulb housing. $$ was tight and I didn't want to spend. $600 for a new bucket and found the headwinds at bike week in Daytona. It's a decent bucket and made in USA. I had no room on my train for the slim ballast and the new bucket was my only option other than splicing wire to extend the hid harness.
