Spinger Classic Handlebars

Do any of you with this bike feel a little uncomfortable with the stock bars?

Would you go to bigger Beach bars or minni apes.....or BIG apes?

This is my first Harley and changes like this are a little intimidating.

I thought the bars as is were great till I did a few long distance runs.

Any help, ideas, points of view would be put to the best possible use...lol

George

when I first got my springer, the bars were real uncomfortable just on a short ride. I adjusted the angle of my levers and it made a big difference, but I am one that rests two fingers on the brake lever, so it may not help you. I still don't like the bars after an hour ride though. I am getting the drag bars for looks but I also hear they provide a more natural reach. If you pick something like ape hangers, you may have to consider the length of cables, wires and brake line.

I have an 05 Classic and I just changed out my bars. I put on bigger beach bars. They are great and I would highly recommend them. I got the Burly Beach bars. They look great on the bike. Make sure if you change out the bars to run your wires through the bars, it really cleans up the front of the bike.

orgcrs,

What is the part # of the bars you got?
Did you need to change any cables?
Why do you like them better?

I know it's probably a little hard to explain.
The problem with the stock for me is that my wrists feel a little twisted or jammed up.
Atangle they come back towards the rider they are too narrow.
Was this your problem? Did this fix the problem or just make it better?

Your help is greatly appreciated!
Thanx
George

I got my '06 Springer Classic with the Harley bikini beach bars installed. So I've never ridden with the stock.

I believe these are the bars I have, party #56760-04: http://*******.com/345bvu

And here's a pic of them from the rear, to give you an idea of the angle / position on that bike:

The feel of these bars for me is very comfortable. I haven't gone much farther than 400 miles in one day with them as of yet, but at that distance, the reach / pullback and feel of them combined with my Sundowner seat leaves me with no pinched feeling in my shoulder / center of back, etc.

I'm 5'10" with a 34.5" arm length, if that helps any.

I just picked up an '07 Springer Classic, and I ordered those same bars (according to part #'s). Mine, in person appear to be anarrower than yours.

Could you please give us a measurement from bar end to bar end.

Thanks alot!

bone2,

I will post pics of mine as soon as they are installed...

panamoncreel,

Could you please give us a measurement from bar end to bar end.

I haven't got a tape measure with me here at work. But doing my best with a 12" ruler, the bars in air straight across from tip to tip are around 33". I doublechecked my parts list from when I first ordered the bike and my bars are indeed Harley part # 56760-04, with the 56850-04 riser kit (which I can't seem to locate in the accessories search now).

Take your time when selecting your bars. Beach Cruisers are very cool. I've heard that it's hard splitting lanes with them and they're a little difficult to steer. Here's a good shot of my bars. I don't believe they're Wild1's but, they have a few bars offered for Springers. Sorry about the HUGE Photo! http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...n/DSC00225.jpg
