Logic tells me this is correct, but the shop manual on my FL states to snug the main axel nut, tighten the pinch bolts and the tighten the axel nut to specs. This preloads the bearings. I was doing this as this post states prior to doing this way. I have had no issues, either way.
I do not loosen the pinch bolts a second time and tighten axel nut as OP states.

1004ron you are right, I had a struggle tonight, as I installed my new chrome rims and tapered spacers, did like you said, spins great at 65lbns, ! thanks, wish I read this 2 hours ago tho!!! tomorrow slapping on a 260 18" Metz 880, that should be FUN!
