THey are just stickers brudda...come right off and a lil bit of elbow grease and the sticky stuff is gone. I'll lift a beer for your safe return from the Sandbox tonight!

Added some pointy stuff to mine a few weeks ago...picked them up used and have some that didnt fit...trying to decide if I am gonna black it out or go chrome so used on the grips, pegs, etc was the way to go and I'll try to flip what I dont like/use. The SMT stuff is just flat out evil looking...

Great looking bikes here. I'm a big fan of the Breakout. If I could afford another bike, I'd get one.

do the brake pedal and shift. get the flush mount gas cap. the rails are the biggest change and really make the look complete!

I thought about the brake pedal but not the shifter...thanks. I have a flush mount gas cap on there. is there anything in it that can get damaged during the process? When you took the rails did you take them off yourself or have your shop do it? I'd like to say money by doing it myself but if it's too much trouble then I'll just have my local shop do it.

Take off the seat, unplug the 3 plugs that go to the tail lights and license plate light, and remove the 2 bolts on either side holding the strut to the frame. The whole fender and struts will come off in one piece. Set it down on a towel, and remove the struts from the fender. Then you may need to disassemble the plugs for the rear lights so you can pull the wiring through. Remove the bolt holding the rear signals to the struts. That should be it. It isn't difficult, just take your time so you don't scratch anything.

It really isn't that difficult to do. I took the rails with wiring still attached to my powder coater and they disconnected and re-connected wiring. (a simple 10 second job with right tools, know-how and experience)

The brake pedal had a retention pin that will not come out (again unless you have proper tools and know how.) use a small c-clamp and put a socket over it. winding the c-clamp evenly distributes pressure and pushes it out effortlessly.

I do it all myself but it can be tedious and nerve wracking making sure you do scratch parts.

I really do like just the engine and tranny being chromed. To me it is the proper mix of black and chrome.
