Thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it. My local shop wanted to charge me @$135 for uninstall/reinstall + powder coat. I'm sure I can do this based on the description y'all (24v and xwino) gave me. Is there a chance the fender might fall or something after I remove one rail? I'd like to do it myself seeing as how the shop hasn't called me in 2 days with a quote for powder coat, guess they're too busy or something which gives me more time to think on it. Just the way they described it to be a "professional" job just had me question my skills.

Sorry I guess I read through your write up too quick before asking about the fender falling. This makes much more sense now. I've kinda gotten in the habit of skimming through things as I'm writing my thesis right now for grad school haha... back to bike. So if i want to do the headlight bucket I have to gut out wiring. is that difficult that you know of ? Again thanks for your help

so I went and got a quote for (both fender rail supports, belt cover, brake lever, shifter, and light buckets) for about $85-90 which can be done tomorrow. Based on what ya'll (24v and xwino) said, I think I'll attempt to take off the parts tonight and take them tomorrow. Word is I'll be able to pick them up by 5 so if all goes according to plan I'll have some pics tomorrow night! Anything else ya'll can think of blacking out? I know flush gas cap was mentioned, will it be damaged in the process?

Seems like a good plan. I would toss the belt guards though instead of coating. Took mine off the second day.

Never thought of that. I'll see how it looks without it. May go that route although I might as well throw it in, its not costing me anything. Do you know anything ramifications of throwing the flush gas cap in there?

I dunno how the insides of the cap will hold up to the powder oven. Might want to ask them.

Yea that's probably what I'll do. I have everything taken off in the living room ready to be taken tomorrow morning. I pretty much got everything off as planned. Took me a while but I just wanted to make sure nothing got scratched or damaged. we'll see how it comes out.

When you took your brake pedal, did that plastic bushing on the inside get ruined or what did you do about that? I just finished dropping it off to powder and they said that would probably melt off. anything you noticed with that?

Decided to go contrast on it, as there is just too much black to go chrome/billet. Finally got rid of the stock mirrors...the Ness ones are nice but extremely close to the grips....I dont remember them being that close on my chopper!! LOL Anyhow, I think they look pretty good....and I love the SMT Grips.
