I remembered I had ordered gear from a company based in Natchez MS several years ago. Wondering what they would have to say about riding the Trace and the weather in spring vs. fall, I called. I was surprised when the owner of the company answered the phone.
When I told him I was interested in his opinion as to the best time to ride the Trace, he was absolutely convinced that the fall season was the best.
So October it is. We'll tow the trike to Natchez then ride the Trace.
A buddy and I made the Trace ride from Natchez to Nashville and then back about 3 weeks ago. We camp at two of the three campgrounds a few nights. We hit the foliage perfect. We took our time and visited several of the historical sites. It's 440 miles from one end to the other.
Speed limit is only 50 mph all the way. It is a nice ride.

Thanks for the info, "Down South" we decided to do the ride in October, but damn that's 11 months from now before we can have some mud bugs
