Hi Guys .
I have a 9 day break over Christmas,and I don't want to waste this time sitting in Fort Lauderdale .

Also visiting Texas is on my Bucket list !

SO. Im thinking of riding and exploring Texas . Yea I know its a big state .
Thats why I would appreciate any help you can offer for special places to visit , special motorcycle roads and routes that I mustn't miss.

Ive already ridden from Seattle to Fort Lauderdale . I set my GPS to avoid motorways and wandered through fantastic rural central America .

Because of the foul weather in Northern and Eastern USA this time of the year, that area is not an option .
What am I looking for ? Ride to Texas , and just wander around exploring out of the way places and riding fantastic roads .

So any ideas from you Texans would be appreciated

The twisted sisters are a must .... go to Luckenbach Texas you will be close enough when at the sisters ........ if you have time Terlingua /big bend area / river road...

We are going to ride 9 days from dfw down to Terlingua and then through NM if i didn't goof on the weather .... otherwise we will be back at the sisters etc ...

 

9 Days is plenty of time for a taste of the Texas Hill Country and Big Bend. A night in Fort Davis, a couple of nights in either the Chisos Mountains Lodge in the National Park or in Study Butte/Terlingua/Terlingua Ghost Town. then to Leakey for a couple of nights.

If you look into Big Bend, check for rooms NOW. Odds are, everything is sold out.

Does the 9 days include you riding to/from Texas? If so, how long would you take from FL to Central Texas (Austin metro)?

 

Did you ever firm up your plans?
We head for Terlingua wed ....
