Az. Ride, Saturday, 8/10 - Coronado Trail
Going to run the trail on Saturday, leaving the Shell / McDonald's in Gold Canyon at 6:30 am.
US 60 through Globe and 77 through Safford to Clifton, up the trail through Alpine, Springerville and Show Low. Coming back through the Salt River Canyon.
Anyone want to ride along?

The key is to hydrate before, during and after the ride.
We have done this ride many times. Once we hit Globe (7:45 am) the elevation is about 3200 feet and stays pretty close to that through Safford (10 am). The next warmest point is Three Way (10:30 am), just before we hit the trail.
From there we gradually go up to 9200 feet near Blue Point overlook and about 8600 at Hanagan Meadow (1 - 2 pm), usually about 70 degrees this time of year in the early afternoon.
From there we will gradually drop to about 5000 feet, then get into Show Low at 6500 feet (3-4 pm). It's about two hours to Globe from there through the Salt River Canyon, with elevations up to 6000 feet (6-7 pm).
We usually stop in Globe and/or Superior to let the sun get low in the sky (or set, if it hasn't already) before heading back into the valley.
Because of the elevations (and the twisties), this is actually one of the best routes to run in the summer. Of course, all of the times can vary depending on stops.
You're welcome to join us any time if you don't want to do this one.
One additional note. We want everyone to ride their own ride through the twisties, some like to ride them harder than others, some prefer to slow down and enjoy the scenery even if they have the skills to ride harder. Both are okay, the group can get separated but the lead riders will always pull over and wait for the others to catch up during the ride, especially before turn offs. Just the way we ride.
