Default Krumm Motorcycle Austin Texas

Anybody here remember this bike shop?

Located on Barton Springs rd. Kind of built into the side of hill. The owners had a residence just above the shop.
In the '60s and '70s they had the corner on HD in Austin.

Yep I remember it. I test rode a bike from there probably back in the early 70s I think it was a Ducati could be wrong cause it was a long time ago. I go by it 3 times a week now. My wife works this up the street from it towards 1st street. She is retired now but went back to work(Austin Energy) partime 29 hrs week. That is also who I work for and my son. I think about it in the mornings when I go by there about 5:45 what use to be there. I think they sell bicycles in there now.

Yeah, how Austin has changed.

I bought a new 1976 Superglide there. I paid $3,000 for it. I wish I still had that bike.

Do you at least still have pics of that bike? You know, those type of pictures that sorta fade redish over the years. Cameras used to use some sort of film that could be developed into a photo, or so I have heard....

I seem to remember those things, called photographs.

I'll have to look.

Found one.

Blurry from the summer of '76

This was one of the first AMF Harley's. Simple, no extras. I refused the electric start kit. Kick start only.

Never knew there was a Krumm's in Austin but there was one on Bandera Road in San Antonio in the 60-70's that I remember well. I remember being stationed in Wales UK from 74-76 and needing a part for my 75 Norton 850. When I was home on leave in San Antonio for a few weeks in the summer of 75I got the part from Krumm's. I couldnt get the part in the UK as most all the 1975 850's with electric start were shipped to the US and then Norton folded.A great bike shop.

I wonder if they were the same family.

Default Krumm Kawasaki - Austin, TX

@ Rocks and IamZardoz.....

That shop was owned by my aunt and uncle....Uncle Adrian and Aunt Elma. The shop in San Antonio was owned by another aunt and uncle. The Krumm family was pretty heavy into motorcylce and car racing (also had some family that owned a Honda shop in Austin too). Uncle Adrian sold the shop when he got too old to run it and they moved out toward Lake Austin right beside my house. They ended up passing in the early to mid 90's. They used to let me help around the shop....and my aunt would play cards with me...I miss them. If you have any pics of the place...I would love to see them.
