Default 2015 iron 883

Picked up my new iron last weekend. Just ordered Vance and Hines short shots and an outlaw intake. Any suggestions on vied vs tune vs anything if I'm plannin on keeping this bike a good while

Spend a little extra money and buy the Fuel Moto Micro EFI over the NightRider XIED's.
$199 + shipping, unlimited support, and ten map positions. Switch to a new map in seconds.
Myself and another member had popping with Vance & Hines and the VIED/XIEDs. Also the NightRider kept throwing O2 codes.

Expect the Vance & Hines to be LOUD!!!!
I installed a set of SmartPartz Hardcore Baffles last week to tame the sound , and make the bike more neighborly friendly. Very happy now with the current setup, but wasted $$$$$ on the XIED setup.
They did work great on my 07, but 2014 and up models are different beast.

The short shots are loud, and I guess I am getting older too. I removed mine and put the stock exhaust back on. I tried the quiet baffles and the SmartPartz Hardcore Baffles. They did help a lot but I did not like the sound of them.

Def invent in a tuner, it is the best option long term and allows you to remap at the touch of a button. Plus if you REALLY want to get the bike running right you can take it to a dyno shop and they will build a map specific to your bike.

I just put new intakes on mine and my wives sportsters along with new slip-ons on mine and drilled baffles on her stock mufflers. Called fuel moto and talked to them, they loaded maps on a power vision (dual license) tuner. Both maps are working great, have not yet played with the auto tune to refine them. Their micro efi would probably have suited me fine, but bit the bullet and sprang for the powervision. Eventually I will be putting a 2 -1 black pipe on her iron (2011).

It all depends on what modifications you are wanting to do in the near future and what your funds are.

HERE is a thread that describes the pros and cons of all the different types of tuners...

Newbie here and I too just picked up a 2015 and just had my short shots installed today. Beautiful pipes but louder than I expected even with the quiet baffles! Do you all wear ear plugs or are there even quieter baffles than the ones from V&H?
