re-jetting a 06 xlr

If you don't mind digging right in , the first thing to do is pull the carb , clean it out really well , remove the base mixture plug and ID the jets.
Usually the stock jets are #42 pilot and #175 main.
If you want to make a couple changes that will get you close , grab a #44 or #45 pilot and a #27094-88 (1988 sportster) needle.
Make sure to have a factory manual at the ready and set the float properly.
The main jet size is very close to proper if you don't do some crazy build.
For under $20.00 , you will be very close to perfect with this combo , and will get great fuel mileage.
The #44 pilot can be had used from an Electra Glide if you have any friends that re jetted their twin cam.
The needle may be in stock at the dealer , mine was when I did a couple bikes for friends.
Set the base screw mixture at the proper base RPM hot and you should have a nice running bike.
