Forty-Eight Project Bike Report w/ tons of pics
Soon after completing the Sportster Winter Makeover (see that report HERE), I've been wanting to do something different with a Sportster 48.
That day is here!
This weekend picked up an almost bone stock 2010 48 with 3370 miles on it.
Have tons of ideas, and not sure what the end result will be, but I'll be documenting it here with pics as I go.
Here's a pic as it pulled into the dealership parking lot-
We got it off the trailer and took it around for a little ride (in 26* temps). Everything seemed fine, but it only started a couple of times before the tired battery gave up.
The seller had let us know that it had been dropped. Clutch lever, clutch perch, left front signal had been replaced. Left rear signal has some scratches.
We were at the dealership because the seller (who traveled up from Alabama) still owed on it, so we were doing a seller assist to handle all the paperwork.
Once in there, found out that it had never had the fuel filler tunnel recall done. So took it back to service and had them do that. Then used their area to put a pigtail on it and jump it off.
Nice of them to let us work indoors, being as it was below 30* outside!
All buttoned back up-
The only variances from stock are the seat, sissy bar, luggage rack, addition of passenger pegs, and the plugs in the baffles were knocked out.
Devin rode it back to its' new home. Then I rode it around a bit. Parked it and stared at it for a long time, throwing around ideas.
The only actual work we did was removing the sissy bar.
I'll be posting pics and reports as progress is made.

Yes, I will list the costs...good idea, thanks. Will start off with the cost of the bike. We got a pretty good deal off of craigslist, $5800
We looked a lot at Dealerships, ebay, and this was about the 15th call off craigslist.
Yep, a millions thoughts going thru our heads right now. The only thing we know for sure is that we are probably going to do 2-3 different renditions off the basic canvas, before, and IF, we do any cutting.

ROFL...We have 15 hours a week budgeted to work on it, so I expect it will go much faster than the last one.

$5800 is a great price, even with some minor road rash! Please don't make my meager mod-bike look too pedestrian.
