Default 883 problem, dealer has no clue, please help...

I'm a week with my slim now, what a great bike!

But I have a 2010 883 too, my gf rides it.

It suddenly developed this issue. After riding some 30 or 40 minutes it's starts to idle really high, like 2500-3000 rpm. And than the fuel pump light comes on. Makes it impossible to shift gear when riding. Shutting everything off and wait 2 minutes makes it go away until the next time. Consistent problem.

Dealer checked the error log, nothing. Also gas handle, cable, intake seems to be OK.

Does anybody have any idea what this could be? Some pointers or a remediation would be really appreciated!

Check that your fuel tank vent is not pinched or obstructed. Also, check the fuel filter.

Something is starving the fuel.

Mostly signed on to hear the answer. If the fuel filter is obstructed or vent shut off, you would more than likely lose the idle since the idle fuel is very lean anyway and the fuel bleed to maintain the standard always 60 psi fuel pressure for idle or wot would be low. (fuel pump runs all the time when the engine runs) Do not think your 2010 has throttle by wire and you do mention cable. There is a push and pull cable (for safety) . Note where throttle is when all is normal. Make a little mark on a piece of tape. Then, when it happens, make sure your throttle is back at that position. If so, your IAC (item 8) valve may be malfunction. You can see the pinitol valve point that opens the airway from the front of the throttle body to behind the butterfly for idle air.. With the air filter off, key on and off and on will let you see it screw out and set and when you key off run back in to cut all air off. It could be connection. However, if someone sprays a lot of carb cleaner up in it, it will wash deposits up past o-ring and fowl the small servo motor.
Mine will get confused if I start in gear and it lugs fwd. Not sure why but if I do that, it will idle couple hundred rpm too high till it gets reset.

personal experience with my sportster 2008 and the info from this forum and xlforum, most likely it is because the ground cable loosen or fuse/relay pins dirty. Few others I read are related to IAC.

I am not even sure if the IAC could get 3000. What does the fuel pump light on mean in the owner's manual. Is that in reference to a low fuel level light?
