Default Help... This lady needs assistance on her 01 sporty

Never really had any problems with my bike... It's been good to me... Until yesterday...
I pulled it out of the garage, turned the key on, pulled out the choke and started it. It took a second but it started. While it was running it acted like it wanted to die so with the choke still pulled out, I twisted my throttle handle... Each time I twisted the throttle, the motor never revved up, instead it acted like it was going to die. So I stopped twisting the throttle and I let go of the choke. B it stayed running for a few seconds then died like I hit the off switch. After it died I spent a few minutes trying to get it back running with no luck. I would hit the start button and it would try to start... It would try to turn over like the starter was engaging but it wouldnt actually start. I did this a few times to try to get it running with no luck. Now when I try and start it it acts like the starter isn't even engaging, it just whines. Please help... What is wing with my bike

Really sounds like the battery is bad. Check battery grounds. How old is the battery? Do you know how to use a multi-meter to check voltage across the battery? If not, do you know someone who does? By doing a couple of simple checks you can see if the battery has enough cranking power and also if it is getting a charge from the alternator.

But first...check the battery cables for tightness (no corrosion) and look at the ground strap to the engine and then condition of the fuse box.

I would rule this out first before looking at something else.

Battery has been checked battery is good.
There's no corrosion on the battery.
Everything is tightened on the battery as of last night

Is there gas in it? The way you said it started then died, sounds like you need to turn the fuel petcock to reserve or put gas in it. Now there may also be a starter/ battery issue.

the starter clutch could be bad if you say the battery is ok --
fully charge then bench test the battery - also a weak battery will cause the starter not to engage

u need to get the battery sorted out before you see why its running rough and not starting which could be the issue
