Default New tank on my Forty Eight

I got a 3.3 peanut tank put on my forty eight. Not really to extend range but to cut down on trips to the gas station. I had it painted Ontario Orange, same color as my 72 Vette. I am very happy with how it turned out! Now I just need to find some old school badges to finish it off. The first time my light came on I stopped to fill up right away. I put in 2.2 gallons, so still just over a gallon in the tank. The manual says though that it should come on at .8 gallons left. Either way that's a good amount of gas left and I expect the way I ride I can get in the neighborhood of 110-120 miles from a tank. I'm not getting anywhere near the 50mpg that HD claims!

Odd Jack it's primarily a commuter bike. The two long trips I've taken on her had me wanting breaks more often than I needed fuel. That was the stock two gallon tank! I was filling up every third day with commuting and this should get me down to once a week.

You know I hadn't considered doing the fenders. I originally had the Cancun Blue flake with the black fenders. I dig the look now but may do it later down the road. I'll have to look at some other bikes and see what I think.

Yeah as a commuter that would be a must swap.

Looks great!

I would not do the fenders... like it is right now you can swap tanks for a different look without worrying about mismatched fenders.

That is my plan as well... I have two 3.3 tanks and the stock tank. One of the tanks will be painted the same color as my car...

I have the same tank and love the extra range. I do wish there was a true flat bottom 3.3gal peanut tank that sat as low as the stock tank. The 3.3 tank really exposes a lot more of the plastic wiring covers and throttle cables.

Looks perfect the way it is... no tank badges necessary.

Looks good man I wish I could fill up only once a week. I have to fill up everyday with my round trip to work is 73 miles. It sucks when I have to drive my truck that gets 11mpg it adds up fast
