Cut and grind the speedo housing / top clamp?
I have the 06 883 Custom with the slight pullback to the risers and speedo housing built into the top clamp. I'd like to move the speedo and was thinking I might cut the speedo housing out of the top clamp and grind it smooth. Somewhere I saw someone had done this. Do you think it would affect the structural integrity of the clamp?

you can just buy a top clamp without the speedo attached.

I haven't found the right part for it. The bolt holes do not line up. Pictured below is what mine looks like. I forget the spacing, and I am at work. I think center to center on both sets of the bolts is 4 1/4".
And on the DK site.
Fitment Note: There are a couple of handlebar clamps that Harley has made that these will not fit on. Measure the distance between the two bolts closest to the tank, center to center (of the bolts) is 2 3/4", and center to center on the top bolts is 4 1/4".
