I know you like to fiddle, but just curious why you changed out our manifold and throttle body?

was just goofing off and completing the "HD" stage 4 kit. was firmly at 90hp before but, the bug has gotten me.

could do better with Hammer but, i only do off-the-shelf mods. no sending off parts for massaging (head work blah blah) or one off engine parts.

i know the chart doesn't show it but, there is a definite difference in the top end. it doesn't feel the same at 5.5k+ as it did before and it feels different over all. feels "stronger" at higher speeds. i'm sure if i moved the rev limit out to 7.5 or 8k(not gonna), it would keep climbing.

it's still going to doc for tuning. the hurricane threw off my plans. parts got held up.

Glad the hurricane passed without much damage to your part of the woods...

The need for speed...what else is in the pipeline? Your bike must be a lot noisier with stage 4.

not much. just finishing all the side projects i started but, didn't finish or back burnered:
  • swap to black rear signal housings
  • xr swing arm
  • repaint tins and use the 2018 tank badges
  • may convert to xlcx frontend depending on brake adapters
  • pipe
  • quest for 100hp+

definitely louder valvetrain.

thinking that i might be treating the symptom and not the problem, i swapped out only one of the rocker cover screws and used old hardware. nothing new was used.

motion pro rocker box tool
https://www.motionpro.com/product/08-0220

you can see the chrome plated washer that failed and became concave.

gasket/washer had failed pretty hard
rode down to st marks and got off and checked for leaks

old hardware was bone dry.. seems like a win

fruity chrome is still riding the fail train
kept looking for oil and found this...

WTF is this about? oil filter getting beat up. that's new.

I checked for that happening after I installed the oil cooler adapter, so I
used some shims to space the link-arm up a bit.

good luck,

T.

after checking things out at st marks. i figured i'd hammer it a bit on the backroads.... all hell broke loose.

did about 50 miles of high revving, high speed ripping around. i stopped to get a new oil filter and some oil and head back to the garage. my brain was telling me i already had oil and filters, which i did. double check the rack to be sure i did and used the excuse to ride more to return the filter and oil. went in and returned the good came out and smelled oil...

it was everywhere.... every rocker screw accept the old one was swimming in oil. the oil tank cover, battery cover, and everything around the starter was thoroughly coated in hot oil. one of the screws was still bubbling...

i'm thinking that since this has just started out of nowhere, there's an issue with the a/c and the breathers. especially since the 20 odd mile ride at sane speeds to st marks didn't result in oil spray. this happened after riding like a bat outta hell. pressure is building up in the boxes and forcing the oil out. i think the breathers are shot and that vent filter is backing things up.

so the screw leaks are a symptom of something else. i think replacing all the washers would cause the pressure to look for somewhere else to get out. will get it sorted. dealer only had a rear breather, had to order a front one.

bike is so damn fun.

the destruction

dry as a bone

thank you. i will check and i will also check my "anti-rotation device" aka piece of metal Jagg sends. ince this is new, the adapter must have rotated forward on the last oil change.
