Default Calling all dual front disk sportster owners

Good evening everyone,

I am currently in the process of gathering information to convert my 2014 Iron 883 single disk front brake to a dual set up off of a 2014 roadster. The question is, why are the part numbers different between my Irons left lower fork slider and the roadsters left lower fork slider?

America's part number for left lower slider (45500054)
Europe's part number for left lower slider ( 45500055)

Everything i can find online points towards them being identical.

Are they both the same color gloss black? Is one a different shade black than the other, which would warrant a different part number?

The reason i'm comparing the left sliders is that the right sliders will definitely have different parts numbers, because of the casting for additional caliper mount.

Thank you in advance for any insight you can provide me with.

this doesn't help you in terms of gloss black, but i'm converting by replacing both sliders. you could grab these and powder them:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-08-AND-N...970631?vxp=mtr

i got them for 135+15 shipping.

Wow, those are a steal! Only problem is no good powder coaters in my area. I guess the other option is to just order both left and right sliders off the roadster. I'm looking to add Harley's new cartridge kit at the same time.

I have a pretty good parts guy at the local dealer, hopefully he can shed some light on the situation. As soon as I talk with him i'll be sure to update the thread.

I have a 1200c I put a 19in wheel up front, 1200r fork leg (rt) and vrod front calipers, 1200r brake line and m/c.

I make the brake lines changeable so in the future if I change the bars I just go back to the hose shop and have a longer top pice made... Instead of having to buy a WHOLE system!

It stops soo well way better than stock!!!

I've finally gotten some answers regarding the part numbers I listed in my opening post.

45500054 ( 2014 Iron 883 GLOSS BLACK) left lower slider
45500055 ( 2014 883 Roadster FLAT BLACK) left lower slider.

If you want to use new OEM parts you either need to order both 45500055 and 45500076 flat black sliders.

Or order just the 45500076 and have a clear sprayed over the flat to have it match the gloss finish on the left slider.

Also be aware you'll need a new Master Cylinder too. The single disc
M/C (supposedly) aren't capable of moving the volume needed for
dual discs...

I can supply the parts list I used - when I get home tonight.
