Default 2007 sportster 1200 stock dyno numbers

since no one on the internet will share the dyno results of a bone stock 2007 1200 sportster i will stock bike. Syn3 oil is the only thing and dyno done at 1000 mile service. I know the dyno was done in 5 gear but i was told by countless people peak power and tq would only be about 1-3% more then 4th gear run. Which would still be around 68-69 Hp and like 72-73 lbs of torque which is the same as alot of people runing stage 1 carb bikes. But carbs are "better"

The numbers you posted look too high to be stock numbers. There are two things that I notice right away. 1) The correction factor is STD, which produces higher numbers than SAE. 2) A fifth gear run will yield higher numbers as well and the standard is a fourth gear run. So that dyno is really skewed on the high side: probably by 6-7 hp.

Here is another forum members dyno chart where he had his bike dynoed before stage 1 and after. The stock numbers his dyno sheet shows are much more accurate.

The fuel injected models out-perform... It has been proven time and time again on our dyno. If you like the carb.. then go for it. Still makes me laugh when people ask for it though

Can you post dyno sheets of these bikes that outperform? So far I have seen two dyno charts of EFI bikes that are average, two below average, and one above average. Not exactly outperforming.

this bike is 100% stock. I just beat the living **** out of it after 100 miles or so ran her up to 6000 rpm never going full throttle until about 600 miles or so. This was done at wilwerts harley davison in dubuque iowa. They have had 06 models on same dyno. They only were about 60 hp take it for what it is worth. They run all bikes in 5th gear for some reason. But dyno operator was on bike to alot of places don't run dyno operator on bike because that can skew results by a few hp to

Harley rates the sportster at 70 hp at the crank. It's impossible for the drivetrain loss to be 0%. A magazine I subscribe to is testing an 07 sportster in next month's issue. They tested a 2004 carbbed model a few years back. I'll wait to see what that bike does to see the difference.

carb is old school tech. injected will without a doubt put down higher hp numbers. If i had an old carbed harley my first upgrade would be fuel injection. the only reason you may have seen a carbed dyno slightly higher compared to a fuel injected bike would be because it had more mods done to it.

The dynos are comparing are all Stage 1 dynos. Just look at rharrison's dyno that is an EFI 1200 and laid down power in the 60's. If there was such an increase in performance in stock EFI bikes, then why wouldn't harley put the higher numbers on their website?

harley davison as far as i know don't post hp numbers only tq numbers on there web site. And do the the math 79lbs of torque at 3500 rpm is less power then 79.1 at 4000 rpm use any hp calculator to figure that i out i don't know the exact numbers and ain't gong to look them up we will just see what happens when i take my bike to the track and knock out a 12.75-12.90 at 103-105 mph at about 1500 ft desity altiatude i will post time slip and video if you want it lol

You are right a later torque peak will result in higher hp, but I'm not sure the torque peak is any later. Previously, they used to publish the torque peak at 3500 rpm, but it used to make it slightly later (based off dyno charts). If you look at your dyno chart the torque peak is not at 4000 rpm. It is around 3500 rpm (slightly more than 3500 rpm, but less than 4000 rpm). So you aren't making the torque at 4000 rpm either. Also, you can't figure out the hp peak from the tq peak without any other data (as far as I know). They don't occur at the same place. I find it very hard to beleive that dyno chart. I will wait until the magazine I get (that publishes rwhp/rwtq/weight) tests a 2007 EFI sportster in the next issue. I will let you know if the bike produced anymore power and if I was right or wrong. I think that will settle it.

As for 1/4 mi. times in the high 12's. Sportsters have done that for a long time. Their 1/4 mi. time were always around 13 sec. Which model do you have?
