Default Sportster Speedometer wiring

Anyone have a speedometer wiring diagram or pinout for the big plug by the fuel tank on a 96 1200 sportster. The owner before me cut out the stock speedo and tach and I'm trying to wire up a after market one and can't find what wire is what and don't want to short anything out any help would be great thanks. There is about 6 cut wires behind the head light

ignition-orange wire 1
databus-light green/violet tracer 2
battery-brown/grey tracer 5
accessory-orange/white tracer 6
ground-black 7
trip switch--black 8
fuel light-yellow/white tracer 9
trip switch-black 11
That's out of my 2007 manual and for non-tach models (not for 883R & 1200R), the number is the pin number on the factory connector.

Thanks man but its missing the speed sensor signal wire,12+ wire and the sensor ground. I'm pretty sure with my aftermarket speedo I have to hook to the 12+ the signal wire and the sensor ground

Sorry, nothing in the Harley wiring diagram called "speed sensor" or "speed signal".
Most of the wires to the speedo originate from the ECM.
Maybe the aftermarket speedo company can give you a cross reference for your year/model bike.

96 sportster wouldn't have a ecu. It would still have a speed sensor on the trans so do the newer bikes with a ecu but the older bikes the speed sensor runs right to the speedo gauge I think. the newer bikes it goes from the speed sensor to the ecu then from the ecu to the gauge. I'm pretty sure they all use a 3 wire Hall type sensor. Talked to them all they have to say is I need a pin out for my bike but its hard to find a wiring diagram for a 96 on line and I don't have a manual sadly
