94 883 Tail & Brake Light not working when running
Hi all,
My 1994 883 tail light and front and rear brake light does not work when the key is in the "ON" position. The tail light does go on with the key in "Accessory" position. The engine starts and runs but no tail light or brake lights. I replaced the tail light bulb and all four fuses with no change in outcome.
It seems odd that both the front brake switch and rear brake switch would go out at the same time. Any ideas?
Thanks!
D

I only have the HD Service Manual for the 1998 883 so the "might" be some changes. The Key switch has 3 positions - OFF - ACC - IGNITION.
ACC - Brake light will work, no tail light or headlight I'm pretty sure the speedometer/odometer will also be powered up.
IGN - Headlight & Tail light work, turn signals, ignition
Easiest thing to check is the tail light / brake light bulb. if that's good check the socket with a test light. If no good goto the harness connector.
Toward the front of the rear fender, under the seat, there is a connector for the rear lights (tail light, brake light, turn signals). You can test for power /lights at that point using a test light. If no good at that point check the fuses and fuses terminals for power. And last check key switch. Please post back what you find.
