Default 2016 Roadster 1000 mile service questions

I am doing my 1000 mile service.

Can anyone tell me the torque for the Roadster steering head, and front and rear axles.

Also, can anyone tell me where I can get the service manual for the 2016 Roadster ?

Thank you,
J

Service manual can be had through your dealer usually. Part number: 99484-16 at retail of $60. It has all the information in it.

your service manual is 99484-16A:
  • 99484 is the sportster/xl constant
  • 16 is the year
  • A for the 1/2 year revision ...

it's $48 at http://www.surdyke.com/

however, here is what you'll need to do for your 1000 mi service in the meantime , this is from a 2014 service manual and nothing has changed other than you forks and shocks.... most of it is covered in your owners manual available free here: https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson....cle/lookupForm

steering head: call a dealer service department to verify yours since your front end is closer to a 48.

edited this post so I don't see a ban-hammer!

But you should buy a service manual.

Thanks for this. So am I right to say only the engine oil, oil filter & transmission fluid are replaced at 10K miles servicing? The rest are based on inspection, to be serviced and replaced based on wear & tear / condition?

The reason so many of us keep harping on about buying the FSM is because all that stuff and so much more is contained within. You can also check on the H-D website, on the Owners tab IIRC. There is a spreadsheet-like table of the things to check and adjust at each service interval. They are also probably in your owners manual. If you don't have one of those you can download a copy from the H-D website, via the Owners tab.

You should be changing out your fluids every 5k miles. The interval between the 1k and 5k is the shortest interval. The 1k is more of a "break in" inspection, but its neccissary. Get yourself a service manual, its a smart investment!
