Default Need to replace Iron 883 speedo mount with 1200T mount

Hello folks. Greetings from India

I want to replace my Iron 883 (2014) speedometer mount which is in wrinkle black finish with Superlow 1200T speedometer which is in Chrome. Wanted to know if Superlow 1200T mount and the handlber size is the same as the one for Iron.

Superlow 1200T is not available in India so cant really judge looking at the picture even though they look the same size.

Attaching my bikes pic as well so you will know why i am looking for a chrome mount.

Hi from the UK! I suspect the chrome one is the exact same component as your black one, but polished and plated. My SuperLow has a black one as well.

If we look at an on-line parts website we can see that the exact same illuistration is used for the Iron and 1200T, giving us the part number #55846-05A BRACKET, SPEEDOMETER (CHROME) for a T. Your black one is #55847-05A BRACKET, SPEEDOMETER (BLACK).

Great suggestion! Could be a darned sight easier than importing a new one.

Thanks for the link. It is really useful. I will be asking the Mumbai dealer to order it. I did consider putting a chrome plating over an existing wrinkle black finish but as its not smooth finish chrome plating would be a bad idea.

Chrome won't stick to paint. You or your plating company would have to strip the paint off before the chrome is applied.

Nice bike, great photo!

A local works who does chrome plating will know exactly what is needed. As stated above, the black finish needs to be removed (not by you), then the part polished and plated. Plating involves several chemical processes. As H-D has established a manufacturing plant in India now I wouldn't be surprised if that component is made not far from you, but has to go to the USA, to be flown back!
