Anyone take their Sportsters off-road?

Wow. . . a +500lb dirt bike. I can't imagine it can have "corrections" made too easily while air borne. I had trouble with that years ago with a 350lb 305 scrambler. 'Course I only weighed 140 lbs back then.

Back-in-the-day Harley made a high-pipe scrambler version of the Sportster when it was still only produced as an 883, and marketed it as an on-road, off-road bike. It was heavy for a scrambler and some guys raced them on flat tracks, but I never ran across one in the scrambles races that I used to run with my Triumph TR-6C. They were tough to beat in the flat track races, but I was able to do so on occasion. As a scrambler they looked the part more than they could act the part. Nice to see that some are trying to resurrect the scrambles capability on the Sportster, but they're still too heavy IMHO.
Much less top heavy than a sporty...

Not on purpose. I took a ride through People's State Forest on paved roads which turned to dirt.then to a 3 foot wide trail. I used to do a lot of dirt bike riding in my 20's so I felt up to the challenge. It's a little tougher in your 60's,especially on a sportster. Standing on forward controls was more than I bargained for. Anyway, I made it the 3 or 4 miles to a paved road, only to find out that in had just been chip sealed. Riding on 3 inches of stone was worse than the trail!
