yes. will need to adjust spacers and bearings.

front axle size changed in 2008.

"2008 front axle enlarged from 3/4 inch to 25 mm, rear axle decreased from 1 inch (25.4 mm) to 25 mm"

I found a spacer / wheel bearing kit that I think will work for the front. I'm having a hard time finding out how to mount the rear wheel. Do I need a smaller axle? Will I need to machine out wheel?

Swspping tbe bearings and maybe the sleeves.

I have a similar project going with the same exact issues (same year bike/specs) you are dealling with plus more, a mid glide conversion.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sportster-models/1121182-2016-roadster-info-finally-posting-in-dealer-systems-wheel-p-n.html

You'll see the same adapters in this thread.

It has just been sidelined by an accident and rebuild of another bike with, now, constant wtf moments and it just stole 2 grand from me... evil bike.

I will resume the sporty project as soon as i wrap the current phase of my other deal.

All i need for the sporty project is a 48 or custom axle. 2008+ roadster sliders, neck bearings, spacers, wheel bearings and tires... maybe a rear axle.

So i will be following your progress as well. Reach out to multihdrdr and see if he can help you.

Just to be clear and keep it simple, you want to adapt the new wheels to use your existing axles.

It's the only way unless you plan on replacing the front forks. The fork leg axle holes are sized for your existing axle, same goes for the rear.
