Speedo gauge back light?
 

Is back light for speedo gauge on 2016 FortyEight on all the time or does it have some sort of an ambient light sensor that turn it on only when its dark out?


Of do I have some sort of loose wire connection issue to turn it on and off??

Good question. I suspect it's on all the time and only shows in a low light or the dark. It's probably LED and with very low power consumption it isn't worth the effort to make it turn on and off automatically. In any event, do you still have a warranty? Use that if you think there is a problem.

you are right. there is a sensor that kicks the light on.

i actually got into it with a parts guy at the dealer because i was asking about why i had lost that feature when i added the tach kit. he tried to tell me my bike didn't have a sensor... which is not true. i started to fuss about it then stopped, hd dealer folks love saying wrong stuff. TheHHMF excluded.

once i added the tack kit, my light stayed on all the time, which is why i asked about it. so there something there controlling the thing not sure where the on/off is, probably a configurable option in the BCM. i don't know of anyway to get in there other than the dealer digital technician.



the light will kick on quickly so before you even think about it, it has been turned on. most people dont even notice it. im not sure if it is even mentioned in the owners manual.

Oh cool. Its been bugging me since I noticed that it seems like turning it on and off on its own(which it is).
What tach kit are you talking about?
