Hey

I heard that the new bikes have a new kind of electrical system (Canbus system) . I heard that if I cut wires it can be bad for the bike like create errors and stuff .

Anyone have feedback about this ? I did it for my rear taillight and yet its all good but im still worried . Thanks !

yes at canbus (2014+). a clean connection and you are good. if there was an issue, the little red light in your speedo would be on. no worries

Softtails and Dynas have been using the canbus since 2012. I've cut and spliced wires for handlebar swaps and turn signal relocation with no problems. Just need a good clean connection and make sure it's sealed tight.

For example: I had a customer come in with the tail lamp not working as brake lamp but working as run, the turn signals not working, and the fuel gauge not working(with the empty idiot light blinking constantly).

Why?

He had replaced the front left turn signal...but put the bulb in backwards. This alone messed up all those things.
