A dyno tune is a far more useful tool than just getting bragging rights - it also gives an optimum tune throughout the rev range, as I know only too well. An expensive tuner is not guaranteed to achieve that on its own.

I very much agree with you on this one. I've done the auto tune on the PV a couple of times, and I thought I did a decent job with "trying to hit all the cells" but only filled in about 1/3 - 1/2 of them.

This spring I'll contact FuelMoto who I purchased the PV from and see if they can do any tweaking, though I'm disappointed on their lack of Sportster items / FB posts. Makes me think they focus purely on big twins.

You may get a better base tune out of them, but they do tend to focus more on the Big Twins.

Even though you did not get the PV from us ( ) you can pop me an email and I will send you a very good base tune for your Sporty.

The challenge with getting a Dyno tune is that there are 99 poor to mediocre dyno tune operators out there for every 1 good one....but almost all will say that they are good...so the possibility is high of spending the $ and not getting much improvement. And, of course, even if you get a good tune, it is only good til you make a change, then you gotta pay them all over again.

A few months ago I added the Target Tune to my Sporty. To say I was impressed with the results would be an understatement. I already had a very good tune, and after adding the TT it was MUCH better...crisper, stronger, and a good jump in MPG.

I am hoping to get it on a dyno next month so that I will have before and after of adding the TT...I can feel it when I twist the wick, I can see it when I fill up, but proof is always nice to have.

Here is a vid showing the power out of the PV tune Before the TT was added.

Email sent.

FuelMoto heavily advertises their double warranty and maps for life, which was a strong reason I went with them, plus they were recommended to me from HDF. Had I known you did the same thing ....

Opening the exhaust is going to make a difference in top in if it's correctly done. Adds bragging rights. However, you will loose engine breaking and a little low rpm torque. Loss of piece and quite. Do you run a lot WOT? If not, why waste you money. If you need to go faster quicker, open the throttle more.

I ran the Straight Shots with the pre-installed baffles and they were ... ok. I read on here that others have put in the quiet baffles to help give it some back pressure and reported better sound and slight performance increase. I tried them out and agree with those claims.

Rarely do I ever go wide open. Low rpm is where I'd like to see improvements, where I can use it.

This is part of what I was trying to say. If you think your STAGE 1 bike NEEDS a dyno tune,...you most likely have 2-2 short loud pipes with zero scavenging ability like short shots. Every short shot, big radius, etc owner thinks they need a dyno tune. No,...you have the worst performance pipes you can put on a bike next to drag pipes. Any good Tuner worth their salt is going to warn you about that before taking your $$$.
