Default Mother road coil over spring shock seat

Hello everyone!

I'm planning on buying a seat soon and just want to know if anyone has experience with this seat?

http://motherroadcustoms.com/Product...ductId=5673853

I want something that's cool but functional around town. I ride a 48 with stock shocks at 275ish and figure the extra travel wouldn't hurt, still I'm in no way fragile.

Actually my main question would be; "will this seat have me sliding off the back?"
Also, "is the added shock worth the price or just the spring alone?"

I'm trying to decide between a Mother Road spring seat or a Le Pera Stubs. I'm digging the spring seat, but "I really dig staying on my bike more." Not just being my first Harley, but my first motorcycle period. I quickly realized just how quick it could get out from under me with my stock seat.

Thanks in advance!

When you juice it, you will feel like you're gonna fall onto the rear fender. After a while your muscles realize you won't and they loosen up so you can relax. I have the Le Pera and love it. I'm 230lbs and the seat your looking at hurts just looking at it.... : )

to be honest my back won't take the bounce . I had a seat like that way less padding (nut buster) , I have never tried the Brand but it does look like a good quality seat with ok padding.

You might want to take a look at our Solo Spring Seat options. They can be very comfortable...less expensive too.

I'm 58 and have done more than a few multi thousand mile trips on mine.

Headed out on a 2000 mile trip.

Here's a photo where you can see the seat set-up a bit better.

Photo of same seat with barrel springs instead of the coil over springs-

Thanks, this is my main concern! Other than this everything else is perfect! The rough, rugged ride gives my bike a lot of the character I'm quickly growing to love. As far as saddle soreness goes, I'm going to have to take a chance. "Those seats are the business!" The only other seat IMHO that looks as nice (but in a different way) is the Le Pera Cherokee but, I'm not going to go 2-up. I'd have to make the bike too comfortable and have chicks in my ear nagging. "No way!!!"LMAO

Thanks again everyone!
And thanks DK Custom for the link! Looking at the prices on your site, I might be able to purchase both seats to rotate and stay within my budget!

all springier seat will be "stiff" I had a mother roads custom with Hairpin springs, which may be "softer" due to them only having 1 coil. It was a cool seat, pretty comfy, but i ditched it for a modern seat. $500 can get you some nice rear shocks, id rather have better coilover shocks on my rears then on my seat!

The barrel springs are much softer, and have more travel, than the scissor springs.

On our newest build there's no place for shocks!

So I'm going with a BMX frame shock on the seat. It will give 3" of seat travel.

Will be interesting to see how the ride feels...still months off from that though.

Thanks for the input and it's something being considered. It's just starting out there's so many paths to take with customization. The choices can be overwhelming at times.

In fact, how do you rate your Cherokee seat? As I've already mentioned, I do like the look of that particular seat as well.

Since rear suspension was mentioned, are Progressive 412 shocks better that the stock Sportster shocks after 2016?

I can never find much of a comparison of the two and everything is always before the 2016 upgrade.
